Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Community Conversation Series

Helping Families Make it Through the Night: Supporting Sleep and Recovery Through Trauma-Informed Care for Families with Substance Exposed Newborns (SEN). This presentation will provide an overview of current research on clinical care for Substance Exposed Newborns (SEN) and their families, including (a) information about what supports families need early in development and ongoing; (b) evidence-based treatments for SEN infants and their families; and (c) building supportive connections for families by utilizing both knowledge of key areas of infant development with a specific focus on fostering healthy sleep and providing support within the context of trauma-informed interventions and care. Finally, we will look at the role of agency partnerships in bringing high quality services to SEN and their families.
