2019 Community Conversation Series:

Join us to continue our conversation on "Integrating Diversity-Informed Infant Mental Health Tenets Into Practice: Starting with Self-Awareness."

Sessions address two RIAIMH IMH-E® Competency Domains: Cultural Competence and Self Awareness.

Session 1: February 25, 2019 - Laura Mason Zeisler

Examining and Expanding Our Knowledge of and Practices with
Dual Language Learners and Their Families

During this session participants will reflect upon their understanding and knowledge about dual language learners, including typical language development, the benefits of being bilingual, and the relevance to mental health of infants and toddlers.  Information and resources about dual language learners will be shared to enable participant reflection and consider action steps to improve practice.

Location: Rhode Island College, Alger Hall 110

Time: 8 am (registration); 8:30 - 10:30 am (program)

Cost:

  • Free for Members
  • $25/session for non-Members
  • Free for Rhode Island College / LEND students (show valid student ID at registration table)
CEUs are an additional $20/session. You can register and pay for CEUs at the door on the day of the event.  (PayPal accepted )


Session 2: March 25, 2019 - Elda Dawber

This session will focus on helping professionals gain the relevant knowledge and resources to provide services to families raising LGBTQ or gender non-conforming youth, or a child exploring gender fluidity at a very young age.


Session 3: April 22, 2019 - Linda Katz

This session will focus on economic security / insecurity and, within this context, will explore issues that are key to the health and well-being of infants, young children, and their families.
