We will consider social determinants of health as they apply to individuals as well as to groups of people. We will look at the RI Department of Health policies and programs in support of health for all RI infants, toddlers, and their parents. Omar Bah, MPA, MARefugee Children's Mental Health: Influence of Culture and Trauma Explored the cultural nuances to mental health access within refugee families -- the vulnerabilities, stigma, and understanding of the American healthcare system, concept of refugee children's mental health, nutrition, stress management, and general approaches to healthcare. Examined the adjustment challenges of refugees once they settle in the United States with emphasis on past trauma, and new stressors.
