Session 3:

Men in the IECMH Field: Experiences and Bias

Tuesday, April 22, 2025

REGISTER

Description:  During this session, participants will hear from male professionals and family members in RI who receive or deliver IECMH services.  The session will highlight the unique experiences and perspectives of men in the field, and will invite participants to reflect about potential biases related to encountering and working with men in a field that is culturally women/female/mother centered.  The session will include a panel discussion and Q &A. The speakers will share their stories and highlight how lived experiences inform the work within the program and the benefits of the participation of men when honoring families, strength, communities, and culture.

Session Learning Objectives:

  • Consider and reflect about biases related to working with fathers within IECMH related fields
  • Understand the role of men in the IEMCH field and the unique perspectives they bring when working with families and within administrative positions in IECMH.
  • Consider strategies to include and value the participation of men in IECMH work.
