CARE-ing for the Workforce:

Connecting to Promote Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH)

“CARE-ing for the Workforce” facilitates the capacity to advocate for, courageously identify, and make changes to challenge racial injustice. In this intensive, participants develop the skills to bring CARE (Community Advocates for Racial Equity) principles and strategies to their unique community sectors as trainers, advocates, policymakers, and holders of spaces. We will provide an overview of the devastating impact of stress from generational racism and structural discrimination and how we can partner with the infant/family workforce to counter the oppressive effects that are experienced by both the workforce and the families they serve. We will think through building and strengthening “positive change experiences” that address equity and anti-racism, recovery, resiliency, and protection from stress. We will highlight the importance of humbly identifying personal and professional ideologies and biases, the personal strength people hold from different life experiences, the social power of building relationships with community culture partners, and the understanding and compassion learned from leaning into reflective practice and IECMH principles.
