This training is for professionals who have basic familiarity with core IECMH principles and want to deepen their capacity to apply reflective principles within their practice and within supervision/consultation activities. Part 1 (6 hours) centers discussion on the importance of mindfulness and reflective practices (look, listen, wonder, respond with empathy) as hallmarks of high quality family engagement. Part 2 (6 hours—supervisors only) focuses on the use of reflective practice within supervision/consultation relationships. Reflective supervision is distinguished from clinical and administrative supervision, highlighting key characteristics of, and differences between, each strategy. We center discussion around the central role of relationships, respect, and cultural humility. All material is aligned with IECMH Competencies required for Endorsement. We recommend that this learning collaborative is followed by at least a one-year experience receiving reflective consultation while skills are being developed.

Facilitated by: Susan Dickstein, PhD, IMH-E
