Session #5:  Implicit Bias in Pre and Perinatal Health Systems

and Innovations in RI

October 17, 2023

        Session #5 Speakers:

Rob Jones, RIAIMH's DEI Consultant and the Chief Empowerment Officer at T. Lee Associates

&  Kaitlyn Rabb. Policy Analyst, RI Kids Count

This session will give an overview of the ways in which implicit bias is seen in pre and perinatal health care systems, and the research that demonstrates its harmful and costly impact. The discussion within the session will highlight data from the national and state pre/perinatal care system and work being done within 1-2 pre/perinatal health communities to increase awareness about the impact of bias and inequities. This discussion will give examples of practices that address these impacts, strive to advance health equity, and improve health outcomes.
