Description: This session will highlight the work of Doulas Conectadas, a Doula Collective rooted in the Latine community, and how the organization uses community based culturally and linguistically relevant practices to support families in all aspects of maternal health including pregnancy and/or loss, birth, and the first months of the perinatal period.  A history and description of the program will be shared, along with examples of the powerful impact of having a doula who shares your language and culture. Our speakers will discuss the importance of decolonizing birth, and of supporting all birthing persons to give birth in safe spaces that respect and honor their intuition, autonomy, cultural traditions, and desires. The discussion will include a question answer portion with participants.

In the final portion of the session, we will hear about advocacy champions in RI who fight inequities in IECMH policy, and how the IECMH data is trending in RI to plan for the future and inform advocacy efforts.
