This training is for professionals who are familiar with core IECMH principles and reflective practices and want to deepen their capacity to apply reflective principles within their settings. We begin with the definition of Reflective Supervision/ Consultation (RS/C) as “…two professionals (or sometimes a small group) coming together in a very particular, specialized interaction to create a relationship for learning, allowing the supervisee to explore [his or her] own reaction to work with families and thereby gain emotional stability, clarity of thinking and broad case understanding.... During RS/C interactions, the professional learns to regulate emotions, integrate theory into practice, explore judgment toward the family and toward oneself, and use the feelings from one's own early experiences to better understand and support family relationships” (Gallen et al., 2016). We discuss the central role of relationships, respect, and cultural humility within reflective practices.

Facilitated by: Susan Dickstein, PhD, IMH-E
